Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026. This explains what Tailkept (run by Matt Penkethman, an individual seller in New Jersey, United States) collects, why, who it's shared with and how long we keep it. Tailkept is based in New Jersey, USA. You can reach us at [email protected].
1. What we collect
- Your pet's photo and the optional pet name you type.
- Your email, if you give it (to send your preview, order emails, or tell you when our pet products go on sale). We record which consent text you agreed to and when.
- Order details: name, shipping address, what you bought. Card details go to Stripe; we never see your full card number.
- A first-party cookie (tk_vid) with a random ID, kept up to 1 year, used to count free previews and for anonymous page stats.
- Abuse protection data: a hashed form of your IP address for daily preview limits, and Cloudflare Turnstile to check that uploads come from a person.
No ads, no third-party advertising trackers. We never sell your photo or personal information.
2. How your photo is used
We use your photo only to make your preview, your portrait and your order. Portraits are digitally created with AI from your photo by our rendering provider, Replicate, and enlarged for printing with an upscaler (Real-ESRGAN) running on our own servers. We don't use your photo to train AI models. Replicate processes your photo only to make your portrait for us. How long Replicate keeps the photos and images it processes is set by Replicate's own terms and privacy policy. We don't ask Replicate to use your photo for anything else.
3. Who we share it with
- Vultr and Google Cloud Run (our servers that prepare previews, portraits and print files).
- Cloudflare (hosting, R2 file storage, D1 database, Turnstile).
- Replicate (makes the portrait from your photo).
- Printify and its print providers (make and ship your order: the print file, your name and shipping address). We also use Printify to make product mockups of your design before you buy.
- Stripe (payments and sales tax calculation).
- Resend (sends our emails).
4. How long we keep it
If you don't order, we delete your photo, your previews and the print-ready versions of your design within about 3 days. Your original photo and on-screen previews are deleted within about 3 days even if you do order. If you order, we keep the print-ready files for the designs you bought for 120 days after they were made, so we can make and ship your order and handle any reprint or remake, then delete them automatically. If you cancel or we refund your order, the same 120-day limit applies. Order records (your name, email, shipping address, what you bought and what you paid; never your full card number) are kept as long as we need them for your order, taxes, accounting and our legal obligations. We keep your email address for marketing only until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Product mockups of your design are also stored at Printify under Printify's terms. You can ask us to delete your files at any time by emailing [email protected].
5. Your choices
You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. To ask for a copy of your data or to delete it, email [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to opt out of its sale or use for targeted ads. We don't sell personal information and don't use it for targeted ads. We'll confirm it's you and reply as soon as we can, within the time your state's law allows. We won't treat you differently for asking.
6. Children
Tailkept isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us their details, email [email protected] and we'll delete it. You need to be 18 or older to place an order.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. The site runs over HTTPS. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see your full card number. Photos and previews are stored privately and aren't publicly listed, and IP addresses are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll tell you as required by law.
